House Rugby

Following on from the successes in the House Football competitions, the Orchard Boys were keen to continue their strong run of performances in the Baldry Trophy.

First up were the seniors, who won the first three of their four games quite convincingly under the leadership of Tom Howe. Unfortunatley, those three games sapped the energy levels so significantly that they were unable to match the all-round strength of a very strong Burr side in the final. All-in-all, a very strong effort from the senior boys and one of which they can all be very proud. #

The junior Orchard A side was packed with pace and guile and consequently they were hoping to play a very open style of sevens. The first game was against a big physical Everett side and it would prove to be the one game when the juniors did not stick to the game plan and tried to out-muscle the opposition. That loss in the first game was quickly followed up by three straight victories, including a well-worked win over Welsh House. At the end of the day, this meant Orchard ran out runners up yet again.

The junior Orchard B side fell foul of their own strength, having Shiplake College A team players in both the House A side and B side. The officials on the day determined that this would not precipitate fair competition and so excluded the A team players from our B squad altogether. Irrespective, the boys all performed admirably and put in some creditable performances.
